Create Meaningful Change

Here's Why I Get Most of My CE's Online . . .

Here are my kids

My name is Jason Drwal. I'm a full-time therapist, the husband of a working mom, and the father to two energetic kids. I love helping my clients and also learning how to be a better therapist but I didn't want to spend lots of time away from my family, drive long distances, take lots of time off work, or spend lots of money on conference fees. Doing my trainings online allows me to save time, money, and sharpen my clinical skills.

So Here Was My Dilemma . . .

It's easy to get trainings online. There are lots of sites that offer dozens or even hundreds of trainings for thearpists, but the problem I ran into was the quality. I spent time doing these trainings, usually it involved reading a research article or other short publication, and afterwards, I got my CEs but I didn't learn much. I realized that I'm far too busy and far too interested in helping my clients to spend my just collecting CEs as fast as possible.

Here's My Solution . . .

Jason Drwal

I realized there are a lot other therapists like me: people who are both busy and really dedicated to help clients. That's why I decided to start offering trainings myself. Now, I'm not new to the education field and it's been a long journey here, so I don't want you to think this is my first outing. In fact, I've trained hundreds of people and I've gotten outstanding feedback about my now but the journey here was long. If you want to understand why my trainings are going to be different than anything else you've attended then read on. If you'd like to purchase a webinar go to the bottom of this page.

Why Makes My Trainings Different ?

As I said before, this was a long journey for me. I was a professor of psychology and I'll admit I was not the greatest one by any means. I fell into the expert trap. I was so focused on teaching about theories, controversies, and research that I forgot all about my students. I wasn't thinking about their interests, experiences, or learning styles. What I eventually learned was that you have to put in just as much time, if not more time, thinking about how present - not just what you present. I learned that simple is always better than complicated. Show your ideas through demonstrations instead of just explaining them.  And always help your audience put your ideas to use in everyday life.

  • First, I know that my audience wants to actively learn and to do that they need to be engaged. So we get lots of discussions going about the theory and practical application. I often get hundreds of comments during a 3-hour presentations.
  • Second, I think about how to demonstrate the concepts, so every presentation has several activities that will illustrate the ideas and concepts. Most of these demonstrations can be used with their clients as well.
  • Third, I want my audience to walk away with lots of tools for them to use. So include quizzes, tests, forms, guides, and other handouts for them to use in their practice. I also realize that most people have challenges and questions after the presentation and so I respond to emails about using these techniques after the presentation. In fact, I love these questions because they teach me what else I need to include in my presentations.

When you think of panic attacks do you think of panic disorder? Did you realize that you are far more likely to treat panic in a condition other than panic disorder (such as, PTSD, social anxiety, or specific phobias to name a few)? The numerous conditions that lead to panic may be one reason why almost 30% of adults in the US will have a full-blown panic attack at some point in their life. Treatment is essential for these people since even sub-clinical panic can lead to lower quality of life, trigger suicidal ideation, and increase the chances of being under- or unemployed.

In this training, we’ll sharpen your skills in diagnosing panic. Then you get a clear explanation of why some people develop panic. You’ll learn about anxiety sensitivity (which explains why some people are vulnerable to panic) and ironic process (a theory that some people’s attempts to cope with panic actually makes panic more likely). We’ll do some interesting demonstrations that you can do for your clients to illustrate ironic process. You’ll also receive the copyright free assessments that can facilitate discussions about what triggers your clients’ panic attacks.

In the second part of the presentation, we’ll talk about how mindfulness can break the cycle of panic. You’ll learn what mindfulness is, how to introduce it to your clients, and the how you can use it to help your clients confront their panic. After we’ve laid the foundation for teaching your clients’ mindfulness, you’ll learn how to use it to help your clients confront their fears (i.e., exposure therapy)
